Evolving Communities wins contract to deliver Dorset Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership

by | Nov 11, 2024 | Dorset MNVP, Health & Care Services

Evolving Communities has been appointed by NHS Dorset Integrated Care Board (ICB) to deliver the Dorset Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP).

Dorset MNVP is the ICB’s formal partner, responsible for providing the voice of service users to inform development of maternity and neonatal care in the county.

Dorset MNVP supports the Local Maternity and Neonatal System to ensure services are delivered in a kind, personal and safe way by making sure the service user voice is central to all decision making and quality oversight. This enables the ICB to fulfil its responsibilities in line with the NHS three-year delivery plan for maternity and neonatal services in England.

Evolving Communities is a Community Interest Company which specialises in gathering and reporting people’s views and experiences of health and social care to help drive and guide improvements in services. The company has extensive experience of delivering independent local Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships and already manages MNVPs in Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset, as well as several local Healthwatch services including Healthwatch Dorset, and a broad range of national and local community engagement projects.

Evolving Communities will manage and support the local team to raise awareness of Dorset MNVP, to engage with people who use maternity and neonatal services, and to share their feedback and insight with those who provide care to help shape local services.

Lucie Woodruff, CEO of Evolving Communities, said: “To provide quality maternity and neonatal care, services need to understand how to meet the needs of their diverse local communities. We are delighted to be supporting our Dorset MNVP team to connect with local people and champion their views. We look forward to working with maternity and neonatal care professionals to ensure continued development and improvement in Dorset, and to sharing good practices across all of our MNVP services in South West England.”

Hannah Leonard, Deputy Director of Maternity and Perinatal Services, NHS Dorset Integrated Care Board, said: “Dorset maternity and neonatal services are committed to putting the voices of women, birthing people and their families at the heart of care. We know that to deliver the very best care we needed to invest in our Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership, and we are excited to be working with Evolving Communities to enable this to happen.

“It is an exciting time in Dorset with a new maternity and neonatal hospital opening in the East and we strive to be always improving following our CQC inspection reports. We want our maternity and neonatal services to offer high quality care and service experience for the families of Dorset and we can only do this if we listen to the voices of our community.”
